Will Book I
In the name of God Amen. I Moses Hines of Gates County and State of North Carolina being weak in body but of a perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the morality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament That is to say Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
First I give and bequeath unto my wife Ruth Hines the use of my lands & plantation during her natural life. Also I give the said lands to my daughter Rachel Elis Hines to her and her heirs forever.
Also I give unto Aaron Smith one cow & calf and one sow and piggs and one tankered herd & one gun to him and his heirs forever.
Also I give unto my daughter Judath Wilkins ten shillings current monty of the State aforesaid.
Also I give unto my daughter Elisabeth Phelps ten shillings current money of the State aforesaid.
Also all the remainder of my estate of every kind after all my just debts is paid I give unto my wife Ruth Hines & my daughter Rachel Elis Hines to be equally divided.
Lastly I denominate and Kedar Parker to be my sole executor of my last will and testament and I hereby utterly disallow revoke and disanull all and every other former Testaments Wills Legasies bequeths and executors by me in any wise before named Willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and three.
Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Moses Hines as his last will and Testament In the presents of us who in his presence and in the presents of each other have hereto subscribed our names.
