"On Thursday, April 13, 1820, Pastor Godfrey Dreher 'married Jacob
Gamner to Nancy Dent.' Pastor Dreher listed this in his journal, and in
1855, when Nancy made application for the land warrant, she also listed this
date for her marriage and Margaret Austin Rawl made oath that she was
present at the marriage. The bride was the daughter of John & Patience
Dent of Dent's Mills near Gilbert in Lexington District. The Dent family
had migrated to South Carolina from Maryland in the 1700's. Members of
this same family would later give their name to Dentsville just north of
Columbia in Richland County. At the time of their marriage, Nancy Dent
was 20 years old and Jacob was 31. There is no indication that Jacob had
been married before. The 1820 census lists Jacob Kaminer living near his
wife's people west of the courthouse seat of Lexington Village."
