MRS. YANKEE IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Aged and prominently known woman died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, after brief illiness
Mrs. George Anne Lanham Yankee, age eighty-six, widow of the late David Yankee of Mackville, died at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, August 6, 1932, from a cerebral hemorrhage, her passing being unexpected. She had been in failing health for some time but her condition was not such that any thought of her death had been entertained. The daughter of Perry G. Lanham deceased war hero, born, raised and spent her entire life in Washington County. In her early life she united with the Christain Church and was regular in her attendance at all church services so long as physically able to take active part. Mrs. Yankee is survived by three daughters, Mrs. John Clark, with whom she was making her home at the time of her death and Mrs. George Powell, both of Mackville and Mrs. Zuna Bottom, Harrodsburg. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Johnson, pastor of the Mackville Methodist Church, long a friend of the family, were held at the Clark residence at three o'clock Sunday afternoon, interment following in Peter Cemetery at Mackville. Her husband and a son, Lois Yankee, preceded her to the grave several years ago.

Mrs. George Ann Yankee was born Oct. 4, 1845 and died at Mackville on August 6, 1932, aged 86 years, 10 months and 2 days. She had been an invalid for the past three years from infirmaties due to old age. She was the daughter of Perry and Amanda Lanham, who with their remaining eleven children moved to the state of Texas in the late sixties. On February 21, 1867, she was united in marriage to David Yankee. To this union were born six children, four of whom survive: Mrs. Zuna Bottom of Harrodsburg; Mrs. Etta Camden, of Virginia; Mrs. George Powell and Mrs. John Clark of Mackville. Besides her children she leaves eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her. She united with the Mackville Christian Church in early girlhood and was a faithful member, attending services regularly as long as her health permitted her to do so. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Johnson, of the Mackville Methodist church on Sunday afternoon at 3 O'Clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Clark. Burial was in Peters Cemetery. Relatives and friends from out of town attending the funeral were from Burgin, Lebanon, Harrodsburg, Springfield and Lousiville.
